never buy a mattress from Sleepy's

I bought a mattress from Sleepy's Mattress whatevers on the beginning of July. I thought all was good, they were willing to deliver it soon, were giving me a good price, and so on. When the sales rep went to go ring it up, she had trouble getting the discounts to work out properly, so she was $20 above the price we had agreed on. She fuddled around with the computer for 10-15 minutes until finally convincing me to pay the total bill and have her write a note on the receipt promising me a phone call and my $20 back.

A week later. My mattress had arrived fine, but no call from the sales woman. I went back to the store, but a different sales rep was there. He called the store the woman was working on to confirm the refund. She gets on the phone and tells me that she tried to call me the day of my purchase to tell me that her manager had not approved our "deal" but that there must have been something wrong with the number I gave her because she was not able to get through, which is crap, seeing as she gave my # to the delivery guys who had no trouble getting a hold of me. After bitching at her and talking to other sales rep, I was able to get the process of refunding restarted, with a promised call in a few days.

Two weeks later, no call, no refund. I go to the store once again and talk to yet another rep. who appears to be higher up in the chain. She tells me they've had problems what my original rep in the future and apologizes. She then does mumbojumbo with my card and says that they'll be refunding me $60, again sorry for the inconvenience. That was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't seen any money put back into my account.

So, what do we learn? Never buy from Sleepy's. Never ever ever. I hope someone who was thinking of buying from them reads this post and changes their mind. At the very least, I'll never buy from them again.

  3. dude! i totally told you about the horrors of buying from sleepy's! listen to your buddy who's been through the whole moving into nyc experience...

what they did to me was -- deliver the wrong mattress, claimed it was the same, refused to give me a discount for my troubles and then finally a week later delivered my correct mattress. such a pain... i'd go with rockaway bedding or 800-mattress.

    i'm up with boycotting sleepy's.

  4. I worked at sleepy's and I now work at rockaway bedding in NJ. If you are moving to NYC and need a bed, contact me at www.myspace.com/wesleyjn1975 and message me with your phone number. I'll call you back and give you a heck of a deal on any mattress from rockaway bedding. Take care. Wesley Nicholls

  9. Dave said, never purchase mattresses from sleepys, I've just purchased 700 dollar mattress from sleepy they were one day late delivering them when I finally got them on a saturday, Me, my girlfriend, and my daughter sleep on them for about 2 to 4 hours my girl got up to go to the bathroom when she came back she noticed that there were bugs coming from out the mattress padding, when we invesigated further to my knowledge of internet intellect, they appear to be bed bugs, I immediately called sleepys sunday morning i was unable to get ahold to customer service until 9 a.m. that Sunday. When i finally talk to them sleepys they tried to clear their names 100% from the bugs, saying that they don't delivery mattress with bugs on them. Mind You i just moved to my new apartment which has brand new carpeting and brand new furnishing, sleepys simply told me that their was nothing that they can do about it even though it hasn't even been 24 hours at that point, I was very upset to hear that i just paid over 700 dollars for mattresses and there was nothing that they can do.

  10. I bought a 3,000 dollar kings down matress set from sleepys and it sags. according to sleepys when i bought it that was covered by the warranty but now when i called them to complain they told me it wasnt covered. They lied or misled me into buying what they called the best matress.

However, now I'm scratching my head and wondering just where do I find a good quality mattress with an honest and reputable backing??? Any suggestions from anyone??
    help--my back hurts!

  14. I ordered a bed from Sleepys and the nightmare goes on and on and on!! When the bed set was delivered from Sleepy’s on 7/12/06, I noticed holes in the box spring; a large crack on the footboard leading all the way down to the floor, the deliverymen noted this and told me to call the company. After the deliverymen left I found damage to my bedroom walls and the hallways from the delivery (these were just freshly painted) and found more damage on the footboard and headboard the wicker on both hb and ftbd was separated/split across the entire bed. I called the company and spoke with a rep re: the damage to my walls and the damage on the headboard and footboard. The rep told me they had many problems with the Saigon bed manufacturer and that they could switch the bed out for an identical footboard and headboard…but different manufacturer, which was called a Wesley Allen bed. I only agreed to this because the rep told me this bed was identical…to the Saigon bed, and that’s the only style I wanted. I found out later these frames were totally different. The rep also stated that she was noting in my file that my walls and hallway were damaged and that she would forward this to the damage claims department. I have called 2 x’s (left message) regarding my damaged walls. I have yet heard anything regarding this matter. On 7/23/06 Sleepys came with a delivery of a new headboard and footboard. I was told to check it before they brought it in the house (glad I did) the headboard and footboard was damaged worse than the ones I had. The deliveryman stated “that’s how they all look” well I dont know about you but i dont want damaged merchandise. So i refused them and to called the sleepys.
I called the company stating the mattress was hurting my back and found out from the salesman that the wrong bed was actually delivered …I was supposed to get a firm Dalton. I also was told to contact Mr. Joe Schuster regarding this whole mess. I called Mr. Schuster a total of 5 times...and left 3 messages on his voice mail and never received one phone call back from him. I also never received a call back from damage control regarding my walls in my house. I have called a total of 6 times to this company only to get a recording stating “due to the unusually high call volume please leave a message and someone will get back with you” (and since Mr. Schuster never once called me back) I did left numerous messages. I am not sure where this company got a phone no of 302-368-6810…because that is not my number. I have tried repeatedly to call Mr. Schuster only to always get a voice mail. Finally, I called and actually got a rep on the line and thought we got this whole matter cleared up. I assumed I would get the bed on 9/2/06…or I would get a call before hand stating when the bed would be delivered. It is now September 14, 2006 and still no contact from this company and no replacement bed. Please find the stated copy attached from Sleepy’s that “after customer receives delivery she will cancel the dispute with the credit card company.” I have not received delivery so please put back in dispute. I cannot and will not be responsible for something I do not have. I am so upset with this whole matter …I have been sleeping on my couch since July 12, 2006. I need a bed, this has disrupted my life to the extent where I am not sleeping, at night cause I‘ve been sleeping on the couch. I finally had them pick up the old mattress in October 2006 and deliver the one i was supposed to get ..only this one Reaked of mold smell and something else.??... called company again i told them just to pick up everything i had had it ..been dealing with them since july...they actually agreed to come and p/u everything the mattress, the slats the frame head board ect.!! i was estatic...i was going to get a refund..finally!! ......NOT ...havenot recieved no credit on my credit card...so they owe me 2000.00

  15. YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE BUSINESS BUREAU AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPANY AND THEN CALL CONSUMER HOTLINE TO SEE HOW YOU CAN GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. YOU MAY HAVE TO FILE ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH THEM. MAKE MULITPLE COPIES SO YOU CAN JUST SEND THEM OUT. DO YOU HAVE A CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT WITH YOUR LOCAL NEWS STATION? THEY ARE REALLY GREAT AT GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF MATTERS. YOU NEED A REFUND OF YOUR MONEY ASAP......

  16. I bought my bed from Sleepy's and can finally sleep through the night. I went to 2 other mattress retailers first, one of them was too busy on the phone and never approached me, the other guy was sleeping behind the desk. At Sleepy's I was immediately greeted, the salesperson explained how to choose the right bed for me, no pressure, tons of beds to choose from and i didn't have to pay a cent up front, because I financed the entire purchase.
As for the akshay person (M/F???), if you work for google, then you can afford the $20.00. Needless to say, who cares who you work for.
As for Madman (name says enough). As for the guy who bought a bed after moving into a new apartment, then slept on it with his daughter and wife, you should have had the apt. fumigated for several days, as they are known to carry bed bugs in the wood floors, walls and stuff, because it happened to me at college and I brought all my own furniture, beds and stuff.
As for the guy wesley, I think it was your store I visited and you were sleeping.
For every bad experience, there are thousands of good ones. The law of averages!!

  17. i just bought my tempurpedic mattress from sleepys and actually had a very good experience. This was my 3rd purchase from sleepys, as i also bought for my children and guest room and in their defense, would say i had no problems and have recommended my co workers and friends who have also had good experiences. I guess any large retailer is going to have some complaints. look at wm some love them , some hate them.
i personally would recommend them to anyone. just thought i should give my 2cents for what it is worth.

  18. Anyone planning to shop at Sleepy's needs to WAKE UP now or they are going to have nightmares. I bought a Temper-pedic mattress from sleepy's that nearly broke my neck. It felt like a rock. I was told that I needed to raise the temperature in my bedroom because the bed was probadly frozen from the warehouse. I tried it but it did not work. Further, the bottom dropped out of the boxspring. I was offered a replacement mattress that was dirty when it was delivered. I got feed up and returned everything. Now they claim that I still owe them money for a headboard that I kept that cost 299.99 and they are trying to make me pay nearly 700.00. They apparently don't know how to count at Sleepy's.

  19. I have had good luck with Sleepys over the years, that is until my last purchase. The overpriced pillowtop mattress sagged in the center. This was a 4 piece xlarge twin set to make a KING. Plus it was easier to get up 4 flights of stairs. Mattress 1 sagged in the center less than a month, so I slept on the other one for a short period of time and guess what? Sleepys sent over a technican to inspect the mattress, and told me there was a mildew issue and would not allow me to return the mattress set. MILDEW!!!!!!!! Do you mean urine...., and on both sets? I asked how he made this observation. According to him MILDEW showed up under the "ultra black light bulb" he was running across the mattress. What crap and I should have pushed his creepy head into the mattress. Have 2 cats that are not bed wetters, but just in case one or both decided to hairball stuff, placed a waterproof pad on bed(s). As it turned it was uncessary, they both tend to barf hairballs on the floor once in a while. I have no such issue and use a bathroom. My house guest and I inspected the set after the technician left and there was no issue except the sagging on both mattress. Why not just be truthful and tell me I got burned spending so much money. I was at the 86th street store a couple of months afterwards as a friend told me the Kingsdown bed set was no longer available and I had to see for myself. It was discontined. Why can't these Sleepys folks just be honest? After the bed purchase the salesperson made every attempt to sell me this mattress pad and stated if anything was wrong with the mattress I could exchange. Did not want to spend an additional $60 but am very curious if I had, what other device would have been employed. Don't shop Sleepys. Oh by the way, the time I was at Sleepys, just to see confirm what I heard, set was discontined, the salesman shouted "How are you" clear accross this large showroom. Apparently I did not hear him. When I finally passed by him later on at the store, he told me "I'm not used to being ingored" and totally ingored me. ????? This occured at the 86th street store here in Manhattan, NY.

  20. 1st, how come everyone whohas a complaint is anonymous? SLEEPYS has over 400 stores and IS the largest Mattress seller in the world so you are going to have more complaints, but with that kind of power you can't really expect your'e going to get better service or a better price somewhere else can you? And by the way, they don't make the mattresses so they have to work with vendors on defects just like anyone else, but I bet they have more lei-way than Joe schmoes Mattress sales.
As far as customer service, try dealing with someone smaller. Locally we have places like "Better Bedding", "Bedding Barn", and "Mattress Outlet" and to my experience their all liars and know nothing about their trade. In many cases they won't even give their customers proper information about their beds. I don,t like to say bad things about other people, but with some of the idiotic comments I've seen here, I'm a little outraged.
I am glad wer'e in America where freedom of speech is still a right because some of these people need to know they should have bought a better bed the 1st time and their best chance at it is from SLEEPYS The Mattress Professionals.

  24. I had a nightmare with Sleeps, NEVER again will I use them. It took them 5 trips to my home to get the delivery correct and at each trip the drivers had to call for clarification of the street (I live on Avanue and they kept going to street). They were rude to me each time I called the store to rectify the error and they never gave me back a store credit of any sort for the trouble. I wish I had done some research before going to Sleepy's.

  26. I love Sleepy's. Bought a massive King Koil set during the 50% off Labor Day sale a couple years ago, and I am still in love with the bed today. If I could drag my king around the world with me when I travel, I would. I'm buying a house soon and plan to head into Sleepy's again around Labor Day this year to get a new bed for the guest bedroom. The prices were great - the sale was actually over the day before and the salesgirl was in the process of taking down the signs when I got into the store, but they honored the $900 tag over the $1800 bed. She even gave me time to run back to my office, get my checkbook, and get back to the store. The only issue was the deliverymen - they left the trash, but that's cool b/c I was so excited over the bed that didn't make them take it. Like someone else said - for every complaint, there are a thousand happy customers. Just thought I would weigh in real quick.

  27. Sleepys is like a used car dealership. they jackup the prices about 40-70% over retail and will run half price sales so idiots think they are getting a great deal.I used to work for a mattress company and I would shop sleepys they had a queen kingsdown listed at 3500 on sale for 3200, i taked him down all the way to 1600 and I told him I would be back with my wife he got all upset. they love to show kingsdown because the average whole sale cost to sleepys is about 900 for a queen size set and they try to sell it for over 3000 and make a killer profit. look at their website the average salesperson make 65k a year. thats insane for a chump mattress salesperson. it strue they make big bucks by ripping people off. if you want to buy from them dont ever pay sticker price or your a damn fool. you can get atleast 50% off the advertised price. stearns and tempurpedic are price regulated but sleepys sells it for more than the SRP and will say its on sale and its the same as anyother mattress store. if you find a great deal at a local competitor sleepys will beat their price by 20percent which is good. if you know their game you can get a steal from them if you dont your going to get ripped off big time.never buy headboards or footboards from them they charge on average 60percent more on fashion bed group than my mom and pops store did. final thought SLEEPYS good to work for if your dishonest aweful for the average consumer to buy from. the smart ones save money do your research

  29. My sister got a mattress from sleepy and it was a pain, she was pressured in buying the mattress and the boxspring and now she sleeps in a hard bed nicknamed, you guessed it “The Rock”. But my experience was great I called 1800 Mattress and got my bed the same day in less than 4 hours. I love it, I sleep like a baby and my girlfriend loves it too. I do not suggest Sleepy’s they simply don’t care; they just want your money and better yet I may have played 100 dollars more but I have a much better guarantee and a mattress for the next 10 years, Boxspring and frame. So my suggestion is if you care about your health and can spend in a back doctor use that money and get a better mattress…. I DID!!!

  30. Anyone else notice all the positive Sleepy's comments sound suspiciously like marketing or salespeople? Anonymous above wrote "I just bought a mattress from Sleepy's and for the first time in years I'm sleeping great!"

Um... note to people who post here working for Sleepy's - real people don't write that way.

Also, noone fumigates for days before moving in to their apartment. Clearly the mattress came with the bedbugs, otherwise they would have experienced the symptoms before. Nice try blaming them for your mattresses.

  31. I worked for Sleepy's for many years (we call them Sleezy's).
First of all, the prices are quite inflated for the same mattresses you can get elsewhere. Don't buy very soft mattresses no mater what they tell you about "pressure points". Don't ever pay sticker price you can get the bed for up to half off if you start to leave the store.(except a couple of brands. If you ever do need customer service you're out of luck, the office is filled with uneducated workers that make "fast food" wages. What incentive do they have to help you?

  32. I have been stuck in a pattern of bull from sleepys for 3 years, 4 this november. We purchased a mattress and three months later...it sagged so bad I had to climb out of the bed. We complained, they agreed and we exchanged for a dfferant brand. Matress # 2...same situation....mattress#3...same situation......mattress #4.......same situation. Mattress #5......and yet again. This time we are going to get an attorney even though it is a long process and time consuming. Sleepys blames the bed manufacturers....each bed was a differant model.

I bought a queen size swedish posturepedic mattress from Sleepys for $1499. It does not perform like the Swedish adds. In fact my back kills me whe3n I first get up. I just discovered that the mattress is made from urethane foam. I found a card from Legget & Platt between the mattress which states that the mattress is made from urethane foam. I am 86 years and don't need to be ripped off. I will contact the attorney for my state first thing Monday morning.

  36. I'm glad that I viewed this website. I was planning on going to sleepy's for a new mattress set. After reading the horror stories on this site, I went elsewhere. There is an old saying that merchants need to live by "Take care of your customers, because if you don't, someone else will".

  37. Purchased a twin from Stearns & Foster Plaza Landmark series, in May of 06. Starting sagging in middle within 4 moths. Called and was told needed to have a mattress inspection by a tech. Jump to May 07 final analysis mattress defective. I could have told them that. Bottom line I'll get store credit to get another mattress same price or equal value. I still have to pay for them to deliver it about $60 cause they say warranty doesn't cover s/h. We'll see about that. I plan to do battle. If they would just refund my money I'd go to rockaway bedding where customer seems to count. Anyone tell me how to get my money back. I'd sure like to know. If you need a mattress go to rockaway bedding. Our experience there was fantastic. Any suggestions on refund instead of store credit. Dee

  41. Please understand that Sleepys has over 450 stores and sells thousands of mattress a day. they must be doing something right. With this type of volume there will always be a few who are unhappy with something. Sleepys has always addresses their few unhappy customers and what's important to note is that if there is a slight problem with anything you must deal with the managers or higher, not a sales rep. They are a first class family and I advise all to seek out a better price or selection. remeber if you have a problem go to the top for answers---they do care

  42. We have an issue with our 2500.00 bed from Sleepy's - for over a year now - shame on me for not calling them - we have had sagging even though we flip it every 2wks faithfully - can't find the receipt - called them they basically told me to go pound sand... Sad part is that we could have bought the Westin's Heavenly bed for just a tad more than what we spent at sleepy's and our friend says they haven't had any issues... I woke up this morning and my back felt like a board... I asked my husband to rub it and he said where... and I said the whole thing... When they try to sell you something based on the warranty don't believe it because if you sneezed on the bed they will negate you - if it sags they will negate you - and from what I just read if you have bed bugs within 24hrs they will negate you.... I used to always buy from dial a mattress - never ever had a problem - if it's not the Heavenly bed ( and by the way - it is heavenly - slept in it on our honeymoon!) then dial a mattress is getting a customer back if they are still around!

  43. I bought a twin mattress from sleepys(exton,pa), for my daughter two months ago. I wanted something reasonably priced. The salesman (Chris Brown)sold me a floor model that he said would last 4 years. As you could've guessed the matteress is defective with two sags in it and the only one who slept in it was my 35 lb. daughter. Since it was a floor model they won't give me my money back. I sat in front store to discourage other people from being ripped off ... but they called the cops. Give them a call (610)524-6162 and tell what you think...

  44. How can Sleepy's be in consideration as one of the top companies to work for by Fortune magazine? Their upper management is all white males and they hold their white employees to a different standard than to the minority or female employees. In fact, in one region over the past few months 3 minorities and 2 females have either been terminated or demoted. But I guess that's how Harry, David, Mike and Adam like it!
An employee friendly company, they are NOT!! They think high commissions justify the long hours and endless verbal abuses by Harry and his cronies.
Fortune Magazine, please rethink this. It will be a grave injustice!!!

  46. I purchased 3 mattresses from sleepys in one purchase - 2 full size 1-queen. 1 of of full size matresses- the kings down was great the other was not it dipped when laid on. The queen size - Stearns and Foster also was not good as it too dipped. When we first purchased the mattresses we were under constructions so we were not able to lay on our new mattress for a few months, therefore the 21 days of comfort were long gone. I called sleepys to have them send an inspector come over to look at the two mattress, sleepys said they would send someover over BUT they were not going to lay on the mattress but only look at it. Sleepys DOES not stand behind it's products. They don't care about the consumer. They are a rip off. I spent over $4,ooo on 3 mattresses and they didn't care. I read the list of complaints about sleepys and yet did not listen to them as I never was burned by their products before. I will NEVER purchase from Sleepy's again. I am posting this email now to help other consumers not make the same mistake as I have made. Next time I will go to Macy's or 1-800-mattress anywhere BUT Sleepys.

  53. My name is Len Schiavo and I worked for sleepys for almost 4 years and believe me when I say this..Sleepys customer service is the worst, the reps use bully tactics, the merchandise is way overpriced and the salespeople are severely overworked spending almost 12 hours a day in these showrooms alone.Iam a very honest and top notch sales professional and at one time sleepys was a good place to work and they seemed to value there true mattress professionals,as this company grew and they needed to cut expenses it was at the expense of the people that helped build their enterprise of stores, they cut and overworked and demanded sales goals in stores where maybe you would see at tops a customer a day and alot of these poor sales people were let go.The best decision I made was to leave one day and never return.I would never shop at a Sleepys store and would advise others the same..

  54. I bought a mattress from Sleepy's and I can't sleep at all!
Got a Serta Perfect Evening - Renoir bed (floor model) for $1400. At the store, it was firm and nice. At home its a completely different story...if you put your elbow down on the bed, the mattress dips and you roll into a crevice! Seriously. I have lower back pain for the last 5 months and am just screwed out of the money...actually I am still paying for this on my Sleepys Credit Card. We got this bed because I was pregnant with my second child and I wanted something comfortable. What a mistake! We went in there to buy a $600 Simmons BeautyRest and got suckered into this damn thing. Unless you are in the middle of the bed- you feel like you will roll off..and if you are sitting on the bed, you feel like you are falling backwards. Its the worse ever mattress. The Sleepy salesguy has the attitude like f-you the sale is final. He won't even give us the time of day. I would even trade this for a different one and pay extra - but NO.
When we placed the order, I actually went home and Googled this mattress and could not find ANYTHING about it (feel free to go ahead and try yourself). I called Serta's 1-800 number to ask them about it and they couldn't give me any info on that particular mattress name. I called 1-800 Sleepys and they also couldn't give me one bit of info. This scared me and I called the salesguy at that very moment and expressed my concern. He said look you got the deal of a century- a $3000 mattress for $1400, free delivery, and a free mattress cover...and assured me not to freak out. When they delivered it I called my husband and said this isn't the same mattress- its really soft. He called the guy and the guy said give it some time. After a week we called and said my back hurt and it was too soft and the guy said he was busy and would call us back. This scenario replayd itself a few times and that was back in January...now its May and I am seeing a physical therapist and chiropractor. My back is in terrible pain and I have a 9 month old baby and a Kindergartner to keep up after. This sucks. I am really pissed off. I knew I should have bought from Macy's! They will at least let you trade the mattress back if you don't like it...even if you gotta pay $200- its better than being screwed out of $1400!!! Also btw...mattress.com has prices about 50 bucks cheaper then Sleepy's--- I was just looking for a mattress for my son.
    BUYER BEWARE OF SLEEPY'S!!
They are the equivalent of fast talking used car salesmen. They probably couldn't even make it as that, so they ended up working at Sleepys.

  55. next time jersey mom dont be so cheap and buy a floor model. sorry but i am well educated humble and honest when it comes to my presentation of finding the right bed for you. I could probably sell you ketchup while wearing white gloves. the problem is many of you consumers come in arrogant, rude, cheap, unpleasant and for some reason seem to believe that a sales person is beneath you. maybe if you do what you call "have respect" for everyone who needs to work and make a living, you wouldn't be treated by some sales people with an attitude. The worst are the affluent have all the money in the world to spend but refuse to spend a penny and will actually tell you to your face that they don't want you to make a dollar off of their person. Well than if thats the case, go somewhere where the sales person will care less about your needs, present and recommend the best and have no intention on first establishing an excellent rapport before trying to get into your pockets. Good luck with that or go online and buy something you know nothing about. As for warranty issues, I can say I've seen problems with some of the newer beds and thats at the fault of the manufacturer not the sales person. Just because we should you and tell you the best, we dont sneak into you home and create the sag. THERE IS NO WAY FOR A SALES PERSON TO KNOW IF THE BED YOU CHOOSE AND THE ONE YOU GET WILL BE DEFECTIVE. However if you get a sales person like me, i stay away from beds I know that have been known to fall under warranty exchanges until problems are resolved. But consumers need to calm the hell down and stop lying.

  56. I can understand your frustrations. BUT no matter what type of product that is mass produced there are going to be some lemons. I worked in manufacturing and now in the mattress industry. I know personally that sleepys bends over backwards to make every customer satisfied from their first step in the door to the customer service after it's delivered especially in the first 30 days. There is no way every customer will be totally satisfied when this is the largest mattress retailer in the country and they ship on average 3,000 mattresses daily. It's like saying every WalMart customer is satisfied with every single purchase they ever made there. Impossible. Manufacturers make errors and sometimes the retailer is stuck in the middle.
Final note. If you want true professionals to buy a mattress from that will find out your needs and then help you find a mattress that fits those needs as well as supports you correctly and gives you the comfort you want at the lowest price possible then GO TO SLEEPY'S THE MATTRESS PROFESSIONALS.

  57. I also have a mattress from sleepys and I am happy on it. I love the quality and the comfort it gives to me. I believe that there is still a good way about your problem to be solved.

  58. I had a horrible experience with sleepy's. They delivered the mattress 2 days late, and I had to sleep on the floor of my new apartment. When I called to complain, the salesman was extremely rude and insisted that was the date I chose.. 2 days after I was scheduled to live there?? Finally got the mattress and platform bed frame the salesperson insisted was right for this mattress. After a week, I felt like I was sleeping on hard springs, certainly not the "plush" mattress I felt in the store. I went to another sleepy's and the salesman told me the platform frame had slats that were too wide for my soft mattress, and that the mattress was sagging in between the slats. He then sold me a "bunky board" (essentially a thin piece of plywood covered in fabric) to go under the mattress. My back went out exactly one month after sleeping on this new setup. I picked up the mattress to find that the board was cracked at the exact spot that my back was hurting. I missed a month of work from the pain I was in. They hesitantly agreed to refund me the $100 for this board (which I never got). I then asked for a replacement because this mattress had been sagging everywhere, so they sent over an inspector. I got a report saying they would not replace my 2 month old mattress because it was LESS THAN 1/8" over the amount of sagging allowed for replacement. (The inspector measured one spot, even though there were huge sags every few inches.) Completely fixed scam!! The report also said I was ineligible for a refund for this bunky board because the inspector said there was no crack, but the board was stored in another room, he never even saw the thing!! $1800 down the drain.
    AVIOD SLEEPY'S AT ALL COSTS!!!

  60. needed a mattress for a guest room that maybe gets used 4 times a year. went to sleepys on dec 18 and saw a queen king koil mattress for 399 that would have been ok and a better one for 499. I really liked the better one and the salesman told me I could have it for 429. BJs had a sealy pillow top for 349 so I decided I would probably just buy that one. On Dec 30th Sleepys had a 1/2 price sale of every mattress and listed one at 199. Went back to the store, figuring I would get the 499 mattress for 250. Well, the 399 mattress that was so/so was listed for 199. The 499 that I was going to buy was increased to 1199 and now on sale for 599. When I questioned the salesman (same one from 12 days before) he couldn't explain, just that they adjusted pricing. So I decided that the 199 mattress would do and decided to buy it. But, the computers were having problems and they couldn't put it in for delivery to the store, the only way I could get it was to have it delivered for $89 or pick up up at their warehouse 45 minutes away. The store is 5 minutes from my house. I asked if the computers would be fixed before the sale was over and the answer was no.

I purchased 2 other mattresses from Sleepys that were fine. My only problem with that sale was that I was misled about their free financing. I asked if I could pay it off using my visa and was told yes. They never mentioned I was applying for a sleepys credit card and had no idea until the card showed up in the mail. By that time there was nothing that could done to reverse the sale and put it on my visa. I vowed then never to shop at sleepys again. But sometimes the sales draw you in, at least this time I'm well aware of what I'm dealing with. It just may be better to spend more somewhere else.

  61. @Ipieta how can you expect to do free financing and use your visa. You can use your visa to pay your financing bill. I have financing through sleepys and it is gemoney bank. The card they send is just for you to have you don't ever need it. it is just in case you need another item and would like to use your financing YOU applied for again. some people on here seem to have no common sense what so ever. I would love to see anyone buy an item from any third party seller (not the manufacturer) and expect the warranty to be controlled from that third party. warranties are from the manufacturers. use a little common sense people.

  63. May I suggest that prior to purchasing you do your research and after the purchase know your rights. In February 2010, I purchased a mattress from 1800MATTRES which, is owned by Sleepys and mattress.com. It was a Sealy posturepedic with Euro Pillow top. I paid $800.00 plus $71.00 tax with free shipping. This after I "jewed" them down from $1100.00. Two years later, the mattress shifted leaning profusely to the left. I called the warranty department and, an adjuster by the name of Joshua came, inspected the mattress and said it was defective. The key here is to secretly record them while this is going on. Two weeks go by and I'm expecting a call from Sleepy's regarding the warranty-none came. I took the initiative and called myself.
Sleepy's claimed they never received any report from the adjuster. So I offered them the recording. Now their story and tone changed. They offered to exchange the mattress...all I had to do was go to a local store and pick another mattress. Well the store only had 3 Sealy Posturepedic mattresses, so I went online to mattress.com and found a suitable mattress. I called customer support with the information and was told I needed to get the mattress from 1800MATTRES.com. On that website, the same exact mattress cost $115.00 more. I called them on it...eventually after threatening a lawsuit based upon unethical trade practices-they were more than agreeable to give me the mattress at the lower price.
Today, the mattress arrived but all was not without incident. The delivery guys claimed there was a small yellow stain on the pillowtop of the mattress in one corner that neither I or my wife could see (and Joshua the inspector could not see either). Again, I raised my voice and threatened a lawsuit which, prompted them not only to deliver the mattress but leave the old mattress as well. An awful lot of stress to go through to enforce the conditions of the warranty.

Anyone want to buy a 2 year old Sealy Posturepedic at a reasonable price???

  64. First off, Sleepys owns Rockaway, 1800 mattress and several other companies, you can look it up, all under the HMK coorp. Second, bed bugs dont live in the mattress to whomever said they had them from the mattress, they live in the boxspring and behind the wall art around your bed. third, Sleepys is a retailer like all the other companies, warranties are there for a reason from the manufacturer, not sleepys, they don't make the mattress' they guide you to one that you like the feel of in your budget. And finally, if you've shopped other mattress stores, like I have, you will find refunds/price haggling, etc etc with any other company, but personally Ive found sleepys to be the best, and have the nicest customer service and pleasant sales people.

  67. I bought a mattress from Sleepy's. the thing was defective and sagged in the middle. They tried voiding my warranty. I promptly got a lawyer. within 2 weeks we had a new mattress. My suggestion: dont let a corporate giant like Sleepys jerk you around. GET A LAWYER!
